ALWAYS BE PREPARED!
Camp Mather, where the festival is held, is at about 4500 feet elevation. As with any other place up in the mountains, weather conditions vary greatly and can change rapidly. In other words, bring your shorts, but also be fully prepared in case of rain or even snow, especially during the Spring festival.
Also, while the weather resources can give you a general feeling about what the weather will be like, keep in mind that long range forecasts are less than accurate. In fact, any forecast more than 2 or 3 days out is not much better than an educated guess. Remember, a good berryhead is always prepared!
Directions: FROM THE WEST (S.F. Bay Area): Highway 580 to 205 to 120. Follow signs to Yosemite and stay on Highway 120. Ten (10) miles after Buck Meadows, turn left on Evergreen Road. Follow Evergreen Road seven (7) miles to Camp Mather.
FROM THE SOUTH: Take Highway 99 to Merced and exit at "G" Street. G Street goes out toward the foothills and becomes Snelling Road. Just after Snelling, make a left onto La Grange Road. This meets highway 132. Make a right turn and go through the the town of La Grange. When you reach Coulterville you should jog left, then right through the middle of town back onto J132 (used to be J20 also known as Smith Station Road). J132 ends on Highway 120. Make a right onto highway 120 and proceed approximately 15 miles, then turn left on Evergreen road. Follow Evergreen Road 7 miles into Camp Mather. Note, J132 is rather narrow and twisty, and may not be suitable for RVs, you may wish to go farther up 99 and take 120 west as above..
FROM THE EAST: Take one of the passes; Highway 80, 50, 88, 4,108 or 120. If you choose Ebbets, Sonora or Tioga Pass in the Spring, call Road Conditions to verify that they are open. If you take 120 (Tioga), go all the way through Yosemite to the North Entrance ("Big Oak Flat"), A few miles outside the park entrance, turn right (north) on Evergreen Road, follow it 7 miles to Camp Mather.
ITS ALWAYS a good idea to check the CalTrans road conditions prior to leaving.
