Highlights of the park include Yosemite Valley, and its high cliffs and waterfalls; Wawona's history center and historic hotel; the Mariposa Grove, which contains hundreds of ancient giant sequoias; Glacier Point's (summer-fall) spectacular view of Yosemite Valley and the high country; Tuolumne Meadows (summer-fall), a large subalpine meadow surrounded by mountain peaks; and Hetch Hetchy, a reservoir in a valley considered a twin of Yosemite Valley

Directions:
There are four entrances to the park:
Big Oak Flat Entrance can be approached along Highway 120 West from Modesto and Manteca. The Big Oak Flat Road continues into Yosemite Valley and to the Tioga Road.
(Open all year, although chains may be required anytime from October through April)
East entrance on Tioga Pass is only open in the summer from about mid June through the fall when the snow fall begins sometime in November. Aways check with the road dept. (800)427-7623.
South Entrance can be approached along Highway 41 North from Fresno. The Wawona Road continues into Yosemite Valley

Arch Rock Entrance can be approached along Highway 140 West from Merced. The El Portal Road continues into Yosemite Valley.
